The new South Downs National Park comes into being on 31st March 2010, covering an area of 627 square miles, two-thirds of which is in Sussex. From Beachy Head near Eastbourne in the East to Harting Down in the West, the South Downs includes some of the most varied, stunning and quintessentially English landscapes in the country. From the open chalk grassland to ancient forests and lush river valleys, the South Downs is a unique and protected National Park for the visitor to explore and enjoy. |
