Photo Hike
Country Adventures has teamed up with award winning Lake District mountain photographer Stewart Smith for a series of photo hikes and walking breaks. Stewart lives for getting out amongst the mountains and trekking in the Lake District fells is second nature for Stewart, as is pitching up his tent high in the mountains for several days to capture the kind of images most people can only dream of. We're very excited about working with Stewart, his genuine down to earth personality will compliment the type of sociable, authentic walking holidays and adventure breaks Country Adventures is known for. With our Photo Hikes we're not afraid to say it but they will be as far removed from the stuffy photography courses that you can find out there and you don't even have to bring a camera to enjoy the photo walks. Our photography breaks will be all about great experiences in the mountains, the walk, the landscape, getting off the beaten track, seeing the mountains differently. Above all it's about being on the fells with Stewart, walking in some of his favourite mountain locations, trying to see what he sees as he shares his photography skills along with tales of his mountain adventures.
Stewart Bio
The main bulk of Stewart's photography portfolio focuses on the wild, rugged, mountainous side of the English Lake District. It is principally concerned with catching the fleeting and dramatic light that can play across the crags and ridges of the mountains at the extreme ends of the day; light that is capable of transforming an already enthralling scene into something remarkable and almost surreally beautiful. The interpretation is of an almost primal landscape devoid of human intrusion, the Lake District mountains as they have been for thousands of years and will continue to be for thousands more. The photos represent a love of the solitude and quiet contentment that can still be found in the higher reaches of one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, revealing the Lake District at its very best.
